Unearthing Spring with Kat & Whitney:
4 Nights at Moon Rising Retreat Center
Rescheduled for 2025
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Moon Rising Retreat is a sacred gem that offers the perfect haven to awaken your spring energy. After emerging from the cold, insightful depths of winter, Spring ushers in a renewal through growth, vision, and hope. When Spring awakens the earth, the tiny sapling must make effort to crack through the hull. There is a moment of urgency as it breaks through and begins its climb through the frozen winter soil to emerge into the new light. We too must unearth what it is that we want so we can clarify our goals. Then, we can step out into the world.
This is more than a retreat, it’s a reboot. Using movement, community, morning meditations, and tools for self-reflection, we aim to dig a little deeper into how we participate with ourselves and as part of a greater collective whole. The intention of this retreat is not necessarily to transform, but to unearth and awaken what is already there. We will explore the roots of your present experiences so you can decide what you wish to nurture as you spring forward. This experience promotes past and present self-acceptance, while also challenging participants to acknowledge who they wish to become. Think daily morning meditations and yoga, journaling prompts, evening activity or yin yoga, and lots of opportunities to foster your connection to nature.
This is not a vacation, but a designed departure from your normal perspectives and ingrained concepts of self. Come as you are, leave as you wish to be.
During the scheduled free time, there will be limited slots to have a 1:1 Reiki session with Whitney, or a mini body reading with Kat. These sessions are $55 per half hour slot, not included in the retreat price, and totally optional. Spaces are limited so sign up before they fill up!

Meet your hosts
Kat Yates
Kat is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) and a certified Katonah® Yoga teacher. Before settling down to teach full-time, she spent much of her adult life traveling, learning, and teaching around the world. She got her 30 HR Yin certification through Power Living in Australia, studied Thai Massage at the Sunshine Massage School in Thailand, and has done Vipassana Meditation courses in India, Thailand, and USA. Drawing from a wide background of travel, movement, breathwork, and meditation, Kat aims to help people explore, connect to, and embrace every unique part of themselves. She believes that the breath is one of the most important tools we can use to master our lives and weaves breathwork seamlessly into her teachings. Her classes are designed to spark mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-inquiry, whether through intentional, invigorating, and functional movement or through the quiet, reflective practices of yin yoga. You can often find threads of Vipassana Meditation, Kundalini yoga, and Five Element Theory infused into her offerings.
Whitney Renfroe
Whitney Renfroe has spent her entire life immersed in the arts and fitness industries. Whitney completed her RYT-200 teacher under the instruction of Shannon Hancock, followed by gaining her Paddle Board Yoga instructor certification with Leisha Knight. She is a level II Reiki practitioner, after studying with Reiki Master Terri Ann Heiman. Whitney enjoys finding new ways to merge her passions, cultivating flows that feel like dancing while challenging the body to find stability and strength. She also places heavy emphasis on connecting breath to movement and working intelligently within each person’s own functional range of motion. She embraces the fact that the human body is an ever changing instrument for movement, and as such must be tuned in different ways on different days! Her classes are designed to ignite body + mind + spirit. (And to create sweat.)
