About the Lab

Welcome To Yoga Lab

yoga[lab] bham was started as a place for yoga to happen with some of the most knowledgeable instructors that Birmingham has to offer. Our studio offers the simplicity of alignment based yoga in an environment devoted to our community. We are a welcoming group providing the space for our students to make connections to body, mind and spirit.

Our mission is to make yoga more accessible to everyone and to find laughter in our devotion. At the heart of our belief is that we know that yoga is more than a workout and that creating a community of mindfulness, self-awareness and peaceful well being in our space is something that we can share with everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

That’s completely normal—and you’re not alone. Many people arrive feeling a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. Yoga Lab is a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you’re invited to meet yourself exactly as you are. There’s no expectation to “perform” or know anything in advance. You can move gently, rest when you need to, and take breaks at any time.

If you’re newer to yoga or returning after time away, we recommend starting with slower-paced or beginner-friendly classes. These focus on foundational poses, breath, and awareness. If you’re unsure, our teachers are always happy to help you choose—or you can simply try a class and see how it feels. There’s no “wrong” place to begin.

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move and breathe easily. Yoga doesn’t require special clothing—soft, stretchy, and breathable is perfect.

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you can settle into a spot in the classroom that is your choice. Doors lock 5 minutes after class begins.

Convenient parking is available in the garage under the studio and along 7th Ave S.

If you have one, feel free to bring it. If not, we have mats available for you to use. We also provide props like blocks, blankets, and straps to support your practice—using props is encouraged and always an option.

Not at all. Yoga is not about flexibility or fitness—it’s about awareness, connection, and learning to meet yourself where you are. Strength, flexibility, and balance often develop over time, but they are not prerequisites.

Yoga Lab offers space for reflection, presence, and inner awareness, but there’s no religious requirement or belief system. Our classes are grounded, inclusive, and open to people of all backgrounds. You’re free to engage at whatever level feels meaningful to you.

We’re always happy to help. Feel free to reach out, talk with a teacher before or after class, or simply come as you are and explore. Yoga Lab is a space for curiosity, learning, and shared practice.
