New to Yoga?
Every practice has a beginning.
You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t need to know the poses. You don’t need any previous experience.
People come to yoga for many different reasons—some are looking to move with greater ease, some want more balance in their lives, and many are curious about these movements that can bring so many positive benefits. Whatever brings you here, you can begin exactly where you are.
At Yoga Lab, we believe yoga isn’t about “getting” the pose. It’s about cultivating awareness, connecting with the breath, and exploring your experience with curiosity. If you’re ready to begin, you’re ready.
Yoga is all about choices. And even here at the outset, that holds true because there really isn’t a single “right” way to begin a yoga practice. Some people enjoy learning alongside a group over several weeks, others prefer the flexibility of a weekly class, and some appreciate individual guidance as they get going.
We offer each of these pathways because we all learn a little differently. As you continue down the page, you’ll find three ways to get started and can choose the one that feels like the best fit for you.
Three Ways to Begin

Learn Together
Beginners Yoga Series
A six-week introduction to yoga.
Explore foundational poses, breath, and the elements of a yoga class in a supportive small group setting.
Each week builds on the last, giving you time to ask questions, grow more familiar with the practice, and develop confidence alongside the same teacher and group.

Learn Week by Week
Hatha Yoga Foundations
A welcoming class you can join anytime.
Explore foundational poses, breath, and mindful movement in a supportive weekly class designed for both new and returning students.
Attend at your own pace while building familiarity, confidence, and a practice you can continue returning to each week.

Learn One-on-One
Beginners Foundations Pack
Begin with three personalized private sessions.
Over the course of three 75-minute one-on-one sessions, we'll explore the foundations of yoga while customizing the practice to fit your movement, questions, and interests.
Each session will begin with 15 minutes of consultation and then transition to a practice designed for you.
Your First Visit
Walking into a new space can feel like the hardest part. We want your first visit to feel simple, welcoming, and unhurried. Your teacher will guide you through the practice, and you are always encouraged to move at a pace that feels right for you.
Arrive a few minutes early
Arriving 10–15 minutes before class gives you time to settle in, meet your teacher, and become familiar with the studio.
Wear what feels comfortable
Choose clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily. You do not need special yoga clothes or equipment to begin.
Mats and props are available
You are welcome to bring your own mat, and the studio also has mats, blocks, blankets, and other props available for your practice.
Move at your own pace
You never need to keep up or do every pose. Resting, observing, and choosing another variation are all part of the practice.
